A year of learning

To be completely honest, I’ve only had one thing on my mind all year…don’t be surprised if it never changes.

It was a return home in many respects, but was unable to see my hometown in this venture. I was seeking something new – new experiences, learning and seeing. It definitely was, but as I’ve come to realize, memory also played a large part as well. Yes, I’d return in a heartbeat.

The trip back via the 11th International Shibori Symposium in Japan this last summer offered and presented these new experiences in the context of further learning about the craft I’ve been engaged with for the last 15 years or more. It was an amazing adventure in so many ways…I am still without words. I’ll leave it at that.

Other enriching delights this year came with teaching, exhibiting, being a student at Penland (a workshop with Jane Callender) and making for customers/patrons.

I’ve come away, at the end of this year, feeling overwhelmed with the fullness these experiences have brought. I am deeply grateful to the communities, friends and, of course, especially my family who have been a support in encouraging these endeavors. Thank you, thank you!!

To my readers: Peace, joy and keep learning!
