めでたいなあ。。。Celebrate

Omedetai
Today has felt a bit like an “eve” to me…like Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve…it’s that anticipation. Something good’s coming. We’re even supposed to have snow tonight. We haven’t had snow in a very long time. Maybe it’s part of the magic.

At least 2 of my students are in D.C. this weekend and when they finally return, they’ll be full of excitement and there’ll be stories to tell. Thinking about all of these upcoming events, I’ve decided to postpone my regular classroom activities to focus on tomorrow’s events from a Japanese perspective. I’m hoping to “grab” some Japanese newscasts.

At any rate, it does feel like another beginning. So tomorrow could be 元日 (Ganjitsu/New Year’s Day)and we could say “Happy New Year” (新年 おめでとう/Shinnen omedetō)all over again. Why not?
