Introduction to Shibori
In this class you will be introduced to shibori Japanese dying techniques. You will learn folding and binding techniques, board clamping, pole wrapping to create beautiful indigo-dyed scarves, furoshiki banners, or art pieces. Come explore the magic of this unique process!
Tuition & materials: $35/$30 members + $12 registration fee
Rising 3rd – 5th grade
Date: Session 8 – August 12 – 16
Time: 1 – 4 pm
Place: Artspace – 201 E. Davie St. Raleigh, NC
Looking at the color blue and the magic of indigo dye, we will explore this color and its significance. Let’s create patterns on cloth using a variety of Japanese resist techniques called Shibori. You will dye bandanas, furoshiki (wrapping cloth), and a banner!

Is West Jefferson within reach for you? I gave a workshop at the Florence Thomas Art School this summer and hope to get back to the same area – at some point – probably next year.
