The gloves are part of a project and the idea of dyeing my pair in indigo was probably the most logical idea. So, I’ve worked them in shibori and now they’re drying. I don’t know if the dye will really take, but it should. They’re soaked through, though. It will be days at least before they’re dry.
That was just a little of today’s “call” of the dye. The weather was mild, although it rained all day. Again, not ideal for the vat, but it had to be done. I had a project to complete and working in milder temps made the job easier.

i have wondered before about indigo on leather. there’s a wonderful artists’ book by kristin alana baum called the the book of millie-ba all about indigo…

This idea just came up. A friend distributed pairs of gloves for us to work with, play with, as a piece for an exhibit. It’s still a mystery as to how it’s going to work…but another friend suggested I dye mine, with indigo, of course. So without research, I just approached it the way I usually work with textiles. So far, it looks like the dye works. The gloves are now much deeper than that original photo. I’ll have to take some more and post.
