When I teach, one of my goals is engagement. It was so easy with the kids I saw on Monday. They even thanked me for visiting. Many said they’d had a lot of fun and some said it was the best they’d ever had. Now, that goes a long way.
The time put into preparation was well worth it. The days and hours spend on finishing the edges on the hachi maki evaporated, although, I’m doing something different with my next batch. They were easy to handle as we didn’t have to deal with longs strands of thread everywhere. It gets messy as the kids press down on the fish with their hands bringing the paint to the surface of the fabric. They seem to like it though (very hands on!).
