It was 63 years ago today that the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. That event is commemorated yearly to remember not only those who died and but also to pray for peace. Yesterday, NHK had several specials relating to it. One of the programs included letters written from Hibakusha (survivors) recalling those events. They were not easy to listen to.

don’t forget Nagasaki. august 9, 11:02. All the kids in Nagasaki go to school that day. I have been to the memorial at the peace park several times. It’s amazing. Very moving. I have had the pleasure of meeting and talking with HIBAKUSHA. I can’t believe that Americans and Japanese can live in Harmony today after those horrible events. Lots of banners and t-shirts….
NO MORE HIROSHIMAS NO MORE NAGASAKIS

No, we would not forget Nagasaki either. It says a great deal that we can and do live so harmoniously, as you say. Thank you so much for adding your comments.
